3M Unitek Enforces Patent Rights Against Orthodontic Braces Manufacturer Guangzhou Riton in Germany

3M Unitek, doing business as TOP-Service fuer Lingulatechnik GmbH, and 3M Deutschland GmbH, announced 1st June 2012 that they have served Guangzhou Riton Biomaterial Co., Ltd. (Riton) with a lawsuit alleging infringement of 3M’s patent related to lingual orthodontic braces.

3M’s European Patent 1474064, “Modular System for Customized Orthodontic Appliances” covers 3M™ Unitek™ Incognito™ Lingual Braces. Incognito lingual braces address the demand for effective and invisible orthodontic solutions. Unlike conventional braces, the Incognito system is bonded to the lingual side of teeth.

3M is alleging infringement against Riton’s e-Brace™ lingual bracket system and requesting that the court stop Riton from infringing 3M’s patent and award damages. 3M continues to invest in extensive research and new laboratory methods to improve orthodontic solutions for patients and is committed to protecting its intellectual property and patent portfolio.

3M Unitek and 3M Innovative Properties Co. report that they have brought a lawsuit against RMO, or Rocky Mountain Orthodontics

3M Unitek and 3M Innovative Properties Co. report that they have brought a lawsuit against RMO, or Rocky Mountain Orthodontics – Lingual Jet, which alleges infringement of 3M’s patent that is released to lingual orthodontic braces in Los Angeles. The Plaintiff asserts that United States 6,776,614, 7,811,087 and 7,850,451 each entitle Modular system for Customized Orthodontic Appliances to cover 3M Unitek Incognito Lingual Braces. 3M also said that 3M Unitek, which does business as TOP-Service fur Lingulatechnik GmbH, is bringing infringement proceedings in France under European Patent 1474064 against RMO Europe along with Lingual Jet. The Patent 1474064, Modular System for Customized Orthodontic Appliances, covers 3M Unitek Incognito Lingual Braces as well and is registered in France
