Iconic brand commits expertise and resources to support Manzil’s Micro Enterprise (ME) program
Dubai, United Arab Emirates:The faculty and the children at Manzil Centre for individuals with Special Needs have a new reason to celebrate during the holy month of Ramadan as 3M’s hugely popular Post It® brand has inked a long term partnership to partially support the ME (micro enterprise) section of the institution’s PRIDE (People Receiving Independence and Dignity with Employment) programme that is aimed towards developing students’ knowledge and skills to become part of the mainstream workforce.
Christened as ‘The Kindness Project’, this collaboration will witness Post It® support Manzil towards introducing expert resources in the realm of art, craft and other creative skills, who will impart training to students thus enabling them to learn and master new skill sets that will be of assistance to them while either seeking a job opportunity or starting their own micro enterprise.
“Post-It® as a brand stands for innovation, acute creative sensibility and communication and these are the elements that we intend to introduce in the new program for the wonderful children at Manzil. Our objective for this collaboration is to support Manzil in diversifying the employment oriented skill sets that can be instilled into children. The Kindness Project is the beginning of a long term collaboration with Manzil and we are proud to join hands with an institution that has made remarkable efforts to enhance the learning experience of several children”, said Imran Khan, Division Manager, Stationery, Office Supplies, Construction and Home Improvement Markets, 3M Gulf.
In order to raise further awareness about Manzil and encourage people to render support to this initiative, Post-It® has introduced Manzil on its hugely popular facebook page, www.facebook.com/postitme. Visitors are encouraged to share a short message about a selfless and noble deed done by anyone they know through a specially designed facebook application and for every such story Post-It® would contribute funds towards the realisation of The Kindness Project.
“Manzil’s PRIDE project is focused on enabling students to undertake an independent livelihood either through employment or by establishing their own micro enterprise. This can be enhanced with the introduction of new and innovative learning modes that can help students keep pace with relevant skills and knowledge. The Kindness Project introduced by Post It® is a solid initiative that will certainly help Manzil achieve the desired objectives for the PRIDE program”, said Dr. Ayesha Saeed Husaini, Director, Manzil Centre for Individuals with Special Needs
The newly introduced program will include a series of activities that will be implemented in 2013, with an objective to not only secure more resources for Manzil, but also highlight and reward the creative work completed by the centre’s talented children.
Manzil’s PRIDE initiative is a vocational training program for students with mild to moderate intellectual challenges. The emphasis of the program is to develop student’s knowledge and skills to become part of the mainstream workforce. Students learn how to become as independent as possible, with a practical focus on functional numeracy and literacy, career planning, including, on-the-job training sessions, learning office skills etc. A Micro Enterprise (ME) candidate, learns to enhance his own inherent creative skill sets which will subsequently be required to run a micro-enterprise.
